One line about Daniel Laing’s art
Daniel Laing’s perceptive and alluring pen and ink line drawings capture the imperceptible movement of still places; they illustrate the GrassRoutes Guides and show at galleries up and down the West Coast.
Daniel Laing
Born and raised in Oakland, Daniel’s style of freehand line drawing continues to evolve with each new GrassRoutes Guide. He is self-taught, since the ripe old age of two. Daniel studied anthropology at UC Berkeley, where he learned to see beyond the superficial by putting aside preconceived notions. Find him zipping around the streets of Oakland and San Francisco on his speedy bike, scaling the bouldering walls at the local climbing gym, in the front row of a Sonic Youth concert, or buried in a book. See Daniel’s designs and artwork at www.daniellaing.com.
Serena Bartlett
Author Serena Bartlett revels in discovering new and fun ways
to tread more lightly on the planet. She is the founder of the
GrassRoutes Guidebook series, author of five GrassRoutes titles, and runs corresponding website, www.GrassRoutesGuides.com. She h
as lived and traveled in more than 25 countries as an active spokesperson for eco-travel and is a regular contributor to a number of national and Bay Area publications. Serena is a sponge for creative solutions to become more self-reliant, like sewing her own sheets and quilts, designing jewelry, making wild forays in the kitchen, and growing her own edible garden. We are very honored to be invited to support the Zoo with this benefit show, especially since we’ll be near the Meerkats and Snow Leopards.

Wow, this is a big one! Ken Stringfellow will be here from Paris and I’m sure most of you didn’t get tickets to the Posies show in April at the Croc (sold out about 2 months in advance). So this will be your chance to catch him live in a very unique show. I first saw Ken perform in Bellingham about 7 years ago and was totally blown away. Get your tickets soon as I’m guessing this will sell out too!
